I take inspiration from human nature and the body as my visual language, gravitating toward these themes as a way to look at my relation to the physical world around me. We have very little say in the specific combinations of genes we carry, yet they hold all the information for how to build us. We don’t choose how we physically exist, yet it makes up a significant part of how we are judged or presented to the world, which has a profound impact on our experiences. The body becomes the divide between the external and internal world.

My goal isn’t to create a perfect, life-like copy of anything. In my process of rendering the human body, often through the mediums of theater,  new media, animation, and ultimately immersive installations, I look for those specific moments when the brain first begins to recognize a bodily form.
