lissette bustamante

Some of the recurring themes that are included in my body of work are Latin American diaspora found in urban spaces, immigration politics in the U.S, and jobs that include manual labor. These themes are explored with the usage of family photos which prompt nostalgia, industrial objects that node to urbanism, and documentation of domestic spaces. My installed sculptures are meant to create a narrative that mimics the experience of being in an urban landscape. My artwork is consistent with multimedia, large-scale sculpture pieces that embody the voice of people I feel go unnoticed.
